Nico Rittmeyer, a stand out forward for Tormenta FC during the 2016 PDL season, signed a professional contract with USL side Charleston Battery! Rittmeyer has been on trial with the USL side for over a month, and was signed on March 21st. This sees the first Tormenta FC PDL player to come through the ranks, and then sign a professional contract!
In February, Tormenta FC and Charleston Battery agreed to become official affiliation clubs with one another. Rittmeyer’s contract with the Battery is the first major contribution between clubs since the affiliation.
During trial with the Battery, the former College of Charleston and UNC player saw himself competing in friendlies against MLS sides Columbus Crew and Atlanta United FC. The Savannah, Georgia native also saw himself up against 2016 MLS Cup Champions, Seattle Sounders. After much anticipation, the Battery signed the Tormenta FC PDL player to an official contract! Only four other players were signed by Charleston Battery, along with Rittmeyer.
Tormenta FC thrives on providing players accessible opportunities to be recognized by professional soccer teams in the U.S. and abroad.
