Tormenta FC Draws with Rival Greenville Triumph SC

With hope on the horizon after North Texas’ loss to Toronto FC II last week, Tormenta FC and Greenville Triumph fought hard tonight for an essential three points. A win for Tormenta would’ve put the club back on top of the tables, while Greenville was vying for a playoff spot.

The two teams played desperately as Greenville racked up three yellow cards and Tormenta’s Ricardo Gomez received two cards for fouls, causing the away team to survive the last several minutes with only ten men.

The boys in blue and magenta controlled the match early on, pushing hard in Greenville’s box. In the first half, Tormenta led with seven shots to Greenville’s two and several close chances. Joshua Phelps also played a strong defensive first half, stopping Greenville’s only two close attempts.

Greenville picked up their attack in the second half, but per usual, Tormenta goalkeeper Pablo Jara impressed with his skills. In the sixty-fifth minute, Jara jumped to the top right corner to save Maxwell Hemmings’ shot from the center of the box that could’ve been a game changer.

English defender Mike O'Sullivan was a notable addition to Tormenta’s roster tonight. O’Sullivan had his debut start for the club after a preseason injury and played fifty-four minutes. The defender had a dominant performance, winning eight out of his thirteen duels and three out of his four air duels He even recorded two shots, one on target.

Tormenta FC plays next at home against Chattanooga Red Wolves this Saturday, June 8th. The first time the two teams met was a heartbreaking 3-2 loss for the club who hopes to continue their undefeated home streak.
