STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC forward Kazaiah Sterling was voted Tormenta FC Player of the Month for September. Sterling’s record-breaking month saw him score his first professional hat trick and voted USL League One’s Player of the Week for Week 24.
The winner was determined via a weighted average from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote comprised 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
Sterling earned 34.75% of the total vote, with midfielder Mukwelle Akale coming in second with 30.29%. Midfielder Gabriel Cabral and defender Joshua Phelps follow at 25.25% and 9.71%, respectively.

In September, Sterling breached the Tormenta FC record book. Sterling recorded his first professional hat trick in Tormenta FC’s 3-1 win against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC. Throughout the month, Sterling created six chances throughout 348 minutes played. Sterling became the second player in club history to score a hat trick for the League One side.
Sterling leads the team in goals scored this regular season with 13. Additionally, he leads the team in shots (37) and averages a goal every 122.8 minutes.
