Statesboro, Ga. – March 20, 2024 – Tormenta FC’s midfielder Jackson Khoury received a call-up to play with the Lebanon National Team under Head Coach Miodrag Radulović. Khoury will play against the Australian National Team, once at home on March 21, and once away on March 26, in the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Preliminary Joint Qualification.

“Jackson has had his sights set on representing Lebanon for a while. He’s been on the cusp of the squad, and has visualized playing in the AFC Asian Cup showcasing his ability,” Head Coach of Tormenta FC Ian Cameron said. “I don’t know their pool of candidates, but we can say with certainty in Jackson they have an outstanding young man pushing to be there. This international break gives him another window to convince the staff he can help on the big stage.”
This 2023 USL League One Player of the Year racked up seven goals and six assists last season, making an impressive mark on Tormenta FC during his first year with the team. This appearance on the international stage comes after Khoury spent time in December 2023 training with the team in Beirut, Lebanon for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
“It feels amazing to be called up for World Cup qualifiers for Lebanon, which I chose to represent over Australia since I’ve always felt more at home with the culture and people that Lebanon has,” Khoury explained. “One of the most exciting parts will be to hopefully make my debut against the country I was born in, Australia, which I still have love for.”
Khoury played in Sydney, Australia, from 2018 to 2021 for Sydney FC, leaving an indelible mark on the team’s playing record. After these appearances, the 21-year-old midfielder went on to spend time with the Central Coast Mariners Academy.
