STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC defender Jake Dengler was voted Tormenta FC Player of the Month for August. Dengler’s superb month of August saw him receive two consecutive USL League One Team of the Week honors, helping the defensive unit secure two clean sheets in the last two matches of the month.
The winners were determined via a weighted average from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote comprised 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
Dengler earned 73.15% of the total vote, with midfielder Tobias Otieno coming in second with 12.47%. Midfielder Kingsford Adjei and forward Kazaiah Sterling follow at 11.64% and 2.74%, respectively.

In August, Dengler featured in all five encounters and had a stellar week 22 against Central Valley Fuego FC, leading all players with 12 clearances as he helped South Georgia to a 2-0 victory over Fuego FC. Dengler also tallied eight recoveries and won 6 of 9 duels.
Dengler leads the team in most minutes with 2,069. The Baltimore native helped the defensive unit secure two clean sheets in the last two matches of the month and remained a dangerous aerial presence offensively. Dengler leads the team in clearances (112) and blocks (19).
