Tormenta FC Adds Midfielder Peter Pearson to 2019 USL League One Team
Midfielder Peter Pearson has signed with South Georgia Tormenta FC for its 2019 USL League One team, pending league and federation approval. Pearson played for Des Moines Menace in 2018 and now begins his first professional contract with Tormenta FC.
“Pete is a player that comes highly recommended by a lot of coaches that I trust,” League One head coach John Miglarese said. “I was able to watch him play this past fall for VCU and learned very quickly that he is the type of player and person we are looking for that fits our culture.”
“He brings technique and athleticism to our midfield and can also play as a wing-back,” Miglarese said. “I believe he is a top young player, and he will do very well for us.”
Coming from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Pearson began his collegiate career with the University of Virginia before transferring to Virginia Commonwealth University. The midfielder graduated in Fall 2018 with a degree in Sociology. While playing for the Ram’s men’s soccer team, he was captain in 2018 and helped the team clinch the first seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships by scoring two goals that game, one of which was the game winner. Pearson also won an Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week Award that year.
“I am so honored to join such a prestigious organization, and I’m thankful for Tormenta FC giving me this opportunity to start my professional soccer career,” Pearson said. “I’m excited for what’s to come here in Statesboro and to be apart of the growth within USL League One and the soccer world in the United States.”
Pearson is the 18th player to sign with Tormenta FC’s 2019 USL League One team. Other signees include Conner Antley, Jad Arslan, Micah Bledsoe, Lucas Coutinho, Charlie Dennis, Lars Eckenrode, Ricardo Gomez, Christopher Hellmann, Pablo Jara, Michael Mecham, Michael O’Sullivan, Dalton Pando, Joshua Phelps, Mikie Rowe, Jerry Saint-Vil, Nick Wells and Nil Vinyals.
