South Georgia Tormenta FC holds second Open Trial Saturday:
Team expects more than 90 players in attendance
Aspiring soccer players from around the world will get a chance to try out for Tormenta FC’s inaugural USL League One team Saturday, Jan. 19. The team’s technical staff expects more than 90 players to attend.
With Tormenta’s inaugural professional season less than three months away, the team has created a buzz around the world with fans and players who want to be a part of the excitement in Statesboro, Ga. Tormenta’s first tryout in December attracted more than 70 players from 16 states and several countries, including Canada, South Africa and Brazil.
“We are thrilled to have so much interest in joining our team, not just across the country but internationally,” VP of Soccer Operations Mike Panter said. “Our first trial was a success, and there’s no doubt this trial will bring even more talent to Statesboro.”

Tormenta FC has announced 19 player signings so far and seeks under-the-radar talents to fill remaining openings in its roster. Competition will be tough, but there is hope for rising footballers. Tormenta FC has signed numerous open trialists in the past few years, including one from the past trial in December.
Tryouts kick off at 10 a.m. and will be held at The Clubhouse Soccer Fields, 2704 Old Register Road, Statesboro, Ga. Standouts from the first session will be invited to return for the afternoon session.
Tryout registration is $50. Athletes, who wish to participate in the open trials, can register online through https://www.tormentafc.com or register as a walk-up.
