Tormenta FC Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for March 27
Event will be B.Y.O.S. “Bring Your Own Shovel”
On Wednesday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m, South Georgia Tormenta FC will break ground on its 5300-seat soccer stadium. Because support from the South Georgia community has been a catalyst in Tormenta FC’s journey, all are invited to bring a shovel and break ground with the club. During the event, Tormenta FC will also officially announce the major grocery chain set to be a part of the stadium development.
“We want everyone to be involved,” Tormenta FC President Darin Van Tassell said. “If you come out, bring a shovel and be a part of our growth.”
The stadium will be built next to The Clubhouse on Old Register Road, bringing an exciting and authentic professional soccer experience to South Georgia. The stadium construction is expected to be complete by Tormenta FC’s 2020 season.
“We’re very excited about what the stadium means for our team,” Van Tassell said. “But this is all big for our community. The stadium will be soccer-specific, but also compatible for many other events. The new businesses that will be building next to the stadium will bring a huge boost to our community.”
Following the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Tormenta FC will host the inaugural USL League One home opener at Erk Russell park on Friday, March 29 at 7 p.m. against Greenville Triumph SC.
