Tormenta FC 2 Knocks Chattanooga Red Wolves SC Out of Open Cup
Less than a week after reporting for training, Tormenta FC 2 has knocked League One team Chattanooga Red Wolves out of the US Open Cup. Tormenta FC 2 had a strong debut performance, beating the professional team 3-0 at home.
“We’ve had some of these guys for 3 days, some of them for one day,” head coach Ian Cameron said. “What helped gel them together was the culture of Tormenta as a whole that was already in place. These guys knew what they had to step into. The group last year gave them this opportunity, so we played for them and killed it.”
Tormenta 2 stayed threatening throughout the match, controlling possession and blocking any and all attempts to score by Chattanooga. In the 25th minute, Tormenta 2 player and Georgia Southern men’s soccer star, Jarvian Wigfall, broke through with the team’s first goal of the night. Tormenta 2’s first goal of the season was assisted by forward James Meehan.
Luca Mayr then continued Tormenta 2’s streak with a goal in the 58th, assisted by German player Adrian Billhardt. Billhardt then added a goal to his assist in the 74th, finishing off the match with a score of 3-0.
Tormenta FC 2 will now travel to play Nashville SC for Round Two of the US Open Cup. The team’s first regular season match is this Saturday, May 11 at 8 pm against Peachtree City MOBA at home.
