With the US Open Cup tournament kicking off this week, Tormenta FC 2 continues to add players to their USL League Two roster. Tormenta 2 has signed attacking midfielder Adrian Billhardt, defender Maxwell Edwards, midfielder Matheus Pereira, and goalkeeper Tor Saunders, pending league and federation approval. The four will be eligible for the squad to face Chattanooga Red Wolves in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Adrian Billhardt is an attacking midfielder from Berlin, Germany. Billhardt currently plays for the University of South Florida in Tampa where he studies Business Management. In his time at USF, Adrian was awarded the title of AAC Rookie of the Year in 2017, named to the First Team All-Conference XI in 2017 and the 2018 Preseason AAC All-Conference Team. Growing up, Adrian played youth soccer in the Bundesliga in Germany and played one year as an amateur in the German fourth division, the Regionalliga. “I am really excited to play for Tormenta this summer,” Billhardt said. “I am looking forward to meeting the coaching staff, my teammates and the Tormenta family. Learning and improving under Coach Cameron will be an experience that will help bring me to the next level.”

In his time at MCC, Pereira has seen a lot of success including a conference championship, a regional championship, and a district championship. Prior to playing at Marshalltown Community College, Matheus spent the 2017 season with Brazilian club, Paranoá E.C’s U20 side. “I know that Tormenta FC is a very good and competitive team,” Pereira said. “Being part of this team will make me develop as a player and as a person. That’s the reason why I didn’t think twice to accept the offer.”
Tor Saunders is a 6’5, 212-pound goalkeeper from Bothell, Washington who plays collegiately at the University of Akron where he majors in Sports Management. Prior to playing for the University of Akron, Saunders played for the Seattle Sounders 2 in 2015 and the Seattle Sounders Youth Academy from 2013 to 2016. In his time at the University of Akron, the goalkeeper was named to the Academic All-MAC squad in 2018. “I’m really excited to be with Tormenta FC 2, and I look forward to competing with the team throughout the summer,” Saunders said. “I chose Tormenta because I heard great things about the setup and coaching staff from current player Marco Micaletto, and I look forward to diving into the Tormenta this summer.”
