Tormenta FC Takes Down Forward Madison FC 1-0 on the Road
Conner Antley Continues to Impress, Scores the Game Winner
Tormenta FC secured its second road win of the season tonight against Forward Madison FC with USL League One Player of the Month, Conner Antley, scoring the game winner. This hard-earned win put Tormenta FC at the top of the standings once again after North Texas’ 2-2 tie to Lansing Ignite FC tonight.
The squad entered the match with a lineup change to Tormenta’s usual backline. Tormenta original Jad Arslan appeared in back left, starting for the first time this regular season and playing the full ninety minutes. Along with Arslan’s added defensive efforts, Pablo Jara goalkeeping was what preserved Tormenta’s lead with three big saves, including a stunner block in the nineteenth minute.
Like most Tormenta matches this season, the score remained 0-0 at halftime. Five minutes into the second half, defender Daltyn Knutson shot a header off a corner kick which was saved by Forward’s goalkeeper, but Antley persists inside the box and scores the game-winner and his third goal of the season.
The flamingos pushed harder in the last 10 minutes, trying to tie up the game, but Tormenta subbed on defender Nick Wells for striker Alex Morrell in efforts to hold off the home team’s advances. Tormenta FC finished on top with a final score of 1-0.
Now at the top of the standings with seventeen points in eight games played, Tormenta FC comes back home this weekend for a match versus Lansing Ignite FC on May 25.
