Tormenta FC Falls to Forward Madison FC 2-1
After a bye week, Tormenta FC played a chippy match tonight and fell to Forward Madison FC 2-1 at home. Despite the loss, the club remains in its number two playoff spot with 25 points.
“I thought we started the game exceptionally well and played strong the first 20 minutes, but then we made an uncharacteristic error, and they pounced on that,” Head Coach John Miglarese said. “With that first goal, Forward was able to settle into the game, and we had to chase them the rest of the match.”
Tormenta dominated possession throughout the match and outnumbered Madison’s shots with 15 to their 11, but Forward pushed deep into the home side of the field throughout.
Micaletto stole away Madison’s clean sheet in the 91st minute after he converted a penalty into Tormenta’s lone goal of the night.
“It was a tough game,” Micaletto said. “I thought Forward did a great job, and they played really well. We now have six days to prepare to face Toronto.”
“It’s a long season with plenty of games left, so we just need to learn from this loss and move on from it,” Micaletto said.
Tormenta FC’s next match will be away against Toronto FC II on Friday, July 12, at 4 p.m.
