Tormenta FC 2 Wins 2nd Deep South Division Title 1-0
Billhardt Scores Game Winner over SC United Bantams
Tormenta FC 2 clinched the Deep South Division tonight for the second year in a row with a 1-0 win against the SC United Bantams. German forward Adrian Billhardt scored tonight’s game winning goal in the 74th, bringing home the title for Tormenta.
“Tonight we did everything that we set out to do,” Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “We stuck to our style, and the boys played really brave tonight against the Bantams, a very good team. We couldn’t be happier, but the season isn’t over yet.”
Tormenta 2 dominated the first half, pushing hard on the home side and creating chances. Three close shots were made within the first 30 minutes by forwards JJ Donnelly and Luca Mayr, and defender Daniel Strachan. Late into the second half, Adrian Billhardt put Tormenta on top with a chip to the Bantams keeper.
Now two-time champion of the Deep South Division, Tormenta 2 has its eyes set on winning the USL League Two Southern Conference Championships next weekend on July 19 & 21. Tormenta FC 2 will go against the champions of the Mid South and Southeast divisions. The winner of the Southern Conference will advance to the League Two National Semifinals the following weekend.
