Tormenta FC 2’s striker JJ Donnelly, 22, has signed his first professional contract with Greenville Triumph SC this week. After graduating this past May from Campbell University, Donnelly was a regular starter for Tormenta 2, scoring seven goals and assisting three.
With 10 games left in the season, Donnelly will now experience professional football in USL League One with Greenville. There, Donnelly will be able to showcase his skill set as a striker to help Greenville Triumph advance from their current 6th place in the standings.
“Trust the process and surround yourself with positive people who are going to help you thrive in life,” Donnelly said. “…and that’s what I did this summer by coming to Tormenta where everyone made it a professional environment which then helped me move on to the next level.”
Having won the titles of the 2019 Deep South Division Champions and the 2019 Southern Conference Champions under his belt, Donnelly’s past season with Tormenta FC 2 has been very influential to the advancement of his career.
“We’re excited to watch JJ enter the professional ranks,” Tormenta 2 Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “He arrived at Tormenta having enjoyed a college career at two really well-run programs, and in his time training with Tormenta’s USL League One and playing for our USL League Two, he’s gone from strength to strength.”
“I can safely say he’s left his mark wearing the Tormenta badge and we wish him every success as he further develops on and off the field. It comes as no surprise that an ambitious club like Greenville wants JJ to represent them.”
