STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has signed former Lansing Ignite FC defender Rhys Williams to its 2020 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval.
Williams played 22 games for Ignite FC in 2019, totaling 26 clearances, 40 tackles and 106 duels won, while also scoring a goal.
"Rhys is a player with experience and versatility who I expect to play an important role for us this season,” Head Coach John Miglarese said. “His ability to play wing-back and winger will allow us to deploy him in several different formations effectively. He comes highly recommended by Nate Miller for his character and ability to attack out of the back effectively. I am excited to welcome him to our club."

In 2018, Williams played six matches for USL Championship team Real Monarchs SLC, where he made one block, eight clearances and 10 interceptions. The defender played collegiately for Columbia University, recording seven goals and five assists. Williams also played for the New York Red Bulls U23 and the New York Cosmos B, scoring three goals and adding four assists.

Williams joins 18 players signed to Tormenta’s 2020 roster, while additional signings are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
