STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has learned that a member of Tormenta FC Academy’s coaching staff has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is currently in isolation, following proper protocols as advised by the local health department, and will not return to work until cleared by their health care provider.
The coach worked in Hardeeville, South Carolina, from Monday to Wednesday, Sept. 14-16. Following our protocols, outlined here, the coach wore a mask for the duration of the sessions on Sept. 14-16 and was socially distant (> 6 feet) from the players throughout the training sessions.
The individual is recovering in good spirits under the direction of local health officials. The Academy will continue to closely monitor the health of all coaches, players and parents and follow all protocols from government health agencies and our medical professionals. The health and safety of our community, including coaches, players and parents, remains our highest priority during this pandemic.
The Academy will continue to abide by the club’s Health and Safety protocols outlined here and would like to wish all those who are battling this virus a speedy recovery. Additionally, we would like to thank the countless community leaders, advocates, and medical staff in our community and around the world on the front lines of this pandemic.
