STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the return of defender Stefan Mueller ahead of the 2021 USL League One season. A constant in Tormenta FC's back line, Mueller played every minute of the regular season in 2020 and has signed a new contract for two more years, pending league and federation approval.
Mueller impressed during his first season with the club and was named Tormenta FC Player of the Month for two consecutive months after a strong start in July and August. The defender also made one appearance on the USL League One Team of the Week in 2020.
The 6-foot-2 left back played a key role in securing four clean sheets this season, making 37 clearances, 19 interceptions and six blocks. Offensively, Mueller created 21 scoring chances and ranked second in League One for crosses with 82, while also recording one assist and two shots.

Before signing with Tormenta FC, Mueller played abroad professionally at Southport FC in England's National League North, as well as at the amateur level for TB Uphusen in Germany. The defender graduated from Temple University in 2016 where he started in all 68 matches of his collegiate career.
Mueller joins Pablo Jara, Marco Micaletto, Abuchi Obinwa and Curtis Thorn on Tormenta FC’s 2021 League One roster.
