STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 will host Asheville City SC on Friday, May 14, with the match kicking off at 7 p.m. ET from Eagle Field at Erk Russell Park. Tormenta FC 2 goes into its second home match of the season and looks forward to having home field advantage again with an electric crowd.
Tormenta FC’s second team started its run for the USL League Two title with a strong showing on Tuesday night, walking away with heads held high from a 3-1 victory over the Southern Soccer Academy Kings. Gabriel Cabral of Tormenta FC boasted two assists while creating a dynamic attack from Tormenta’s midfield. Despite the SSA Kings finding the first goal of the match early in the tenth minute, the Kings could not hold back TFC 2’s offensive momentum for the remainder of the match. Man of the Match was awarded to Tormenta FC’s forward Rodney Michael for his two well-placed goals in the first half.
The talented second squad is warming up its hot streak season from 2019, when the team won the Deep South Division and the Southern Conference championship. After a successful home opening win, TFC 2 hopes to notch another win against Asheville City this Friday. Tormenta FC 2 plans to defend its winning streak back at Erk Russell Park.
Originally set to make its USL League Two debut in 2020, Asheville City SC makes its first league appearance on Friday due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Asheville spent three seasons in the National Premier Soccer League for three seasons (2017-19).
Tormenta FC 2 will travel to play Charlotte Independence 2 on Wednesday, May 9th at 7 p.m. for their first road game of the season. Following the away matchup, Tormenta FC 2 will be back in action at Erk Russell Park Tuesday May 25th at 7 p.m. to host Dalton Red Wolves SC. Tickets for the match are available on Tormenta FC’s website.
League Two offers players the chance to hone in on crucial technical and tactical skills before making the leap to the professional level. Coach Morris hopes to create an environment for young guys to grow as players, as well as be recruited by the Tormenta FC’s League One team.
