STATESBORO, Ga. – Back on the road, South Georgia Tormenta FC will travel to Arlington, Texas, on Sunday, May 16, to face off against North Texas SC at 7 p.m. ET at Globe Life Park Stadium. As Tormenta FC takes to the road for its third away matchup of the 2021 USL League One season, the squad hopes to find its first away victory and to climb the League One standings. After a tremendous 3-1 victory on May 1 over FC Tucson, Tormenta FC looks to carry that momentum with them into Sunday’s match.
After being out for two matches due to an injury, talented goal scorer Luca Mayr-Fälten is ready to be back on the pitch this Sunday.
“It’s a new week for us to get better,” Mayr-Fälten said. “We’re frustrated with the past results, but we don’t change what we do because we believe in the game plan we have. I think we have a little more experience this year and if we execute our game plan, we can cause them big problems.”
Building off of the brilliant victory over Tucson and a well fought match against the Richmond Kickers, Tormenta FC hopes to utilize its strengths to best North Texas SC. Offensively, Tormenta FC struck gold with three goals scored by three different players in its last home match. Joshua Phelps, Curtis Thorn and Marco Micalletto led the charge to create numerous scoring opportunities.
North Texas SC comes off a 0-1 loss against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and a 0-4 loss to 2020 league champion Greenville Triumph SC. The home-field advantage will be a chance for North Texas SC to end its losing streak.
In the last two matchups between Tormenta FC and North Texas SC, North Texas emerged victorious on both occasions with 2-1 results. In the most recent matchup, Tormenta FC held North Texas to a tied game until the sixth and final minute of stoppage time. Hungry for redemption and eager to face off against North Texas, Tormenta FC travels with high hopes of securing a win.
