STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has added former FC Tucson captain Raheem Somersall to its 2021 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval. Somersall brings experience from the Saint Kitts and Nevis Senior National Team and is a former FC Tucson captain.
“I’m excited to play for Tormenta FC,” Somersall said. “It’s been nothing but love from day one from players and staff, and I can’t wait to play with the team in front of the fans.”
While with FC Tucson for two seasons, the Carribean footballer made 16 starts in 20 matches played and recorded 29 interceptions, 14 clearances and five shots.
Somersall made his debut for the St. Kitts and Nevis Senior National team in 2017 and has made nine total career appearances, recently representing his home country as captain versus Puerto Rico in the 2022 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.
Collegiately, Somersall made 51 appearances for Appalachian State University before finishing out his college career at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he registered one assist in 15 appearances. The midfielder also gained valuable experience with USL League Two clubs IMG Academy and the Ocean City Nor'easters, recording a total of 19 League Two appearances.
Somersall will be available for selection at Tormenta FC’s home match this Saturday, May 22 as the club faces regional rival Greenville Triumph SC in Erk Russell Park. Tormenta FC encourages masks to be worn per CDC guidance and urges fans to purchase their tickets, including season tickets, half-season plans or quarter-season plans, in advance.
