STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 conquered Peachtree City MOBA 4-1 tonight at Erk Russell Park for its second win of the week and fourth of the 2021 USL League Two regular season. After conceding first to MOBA, Tormenta 2 swiftly responded with an equalizer, followed by a three-goal second half.
Tormenta FC 2 started the match off with strong possession, trying to gain momentum. For his first start with TFC 2, Michael Lawrence looked dangerous up top, and notched the home side’s first shot on target in the 25th minute.
Despite numerous chances on the home side, MOBA got on the board first in the 33rd after causing problems down the wing following a hydration break.
Tormenta FC 2 responded with an equalizer just before the half, as Rodney Michael found Michael Hornsby’s cross to bring the score to 1-1.
MOBA tested Tormenta 2’s backline in the second half, but the home side persisted to break down their backline through the wings. In the 66th minute, the French youngster Alexis Ledoux handed TFC 2’s lead with a strike from just inside the box. Less than three minutes later, Rodney Michael secured a brace and his fifth goal of the season, assisted once again by Hornsby.
After subbing on in the 58th minute, Gabriel Rodriguez brought energy to the final tail of the match and scored a goal of his own to solidify Tormenta 2 with a 4-1 lead at home.
Tonight’s Man of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is defender Michael Hornsby who combined well with Alexis Ledoux down the left wing and provided two assists.
Tormenta FC 2 embarks on a two-match road trip to take on the new East Atlanta FC on Tuesday, June 8 before meeting Peachtree City MOBA once again on Friday, June 11, who will surely be looking for redemption after tonight’s result.
