STATESBORO, Ga. – After securing two 1-0 victories against Toronto FC II, four talented South Georgia Tormenta FC players have been named to the USL League One's Cleer Audio Team of the Week for Week 10 of the regular season. Goalkeeper Pablo Jara, midfielders Marco Micaletto and Kobe Perez and defender Curtis Thorn all earned honors for standout performances.
Jara and Thorn played an important part in helping South Georgia record two clean sheets during Week 10 of the regular season. Jara recorded six saves, two clearances and one punch across both games, and the Tormenta captain has now gone 278 minutes of League One play without allowing a goal. Thorn recorded the assist in the June 9 match and recorded four clearances, three tackles, three interceptions and one blocked shot.
Micaletto scored the game-winning goal at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida, on June 9 and put two shots on target in the victory against Toronto on June 13. Perez, meanwhile, helped create the game-winning goal on June 9 and then scored the game-winner on June 13.
Perez and Thorn have now earned Team of the Week honors twice, while Micaletto and Jara join forward Azaad Liadi and midfielder Adrian Billhardt as Tormenta FC players to earn Team of the Week honors once in the 2021 League One regular season.
Tormenta FC plays at home this Saturday, June 19, as it takes on regional rival and fellow USL W-League founding member Greenville Triumph SC at Erk Russell Park. The club has partnered with the Bulloch County NAACP to host a Juneteenth Night with a portion of the proceeds going to the local non-profit.
