STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC is excited to add Jordan Melia to its USL League One coaching staff after his success leading in TFC Academy. In a position to have a widespread impact on the club, Melia now serves as an assistant coach for the Tormenta FC’s USL League One.
“I joined Tormenta last summer and have been fortunate enough to progress up to the USL League One staff,” Melia said. “The professionalism and standards have been exceptional and working with the staff here has been a fantastic experience so far. I look forward to continuing with League One and working towards a strong next phase of the season with this organization.”
The Englishman joined Tormenta FC Academy in June 2020 as the Boys U16-19 Director, where he led the 2004 Boys to a 2020 South Carolina State Challenge League fall title, earning a 7-0-0 record while scoring 18 goals. His work with the Academy also includes guiding players through their college recruitment journey and further linking the experiences of youth players to the professional squad.
Currently in his third year coaching full time, Melia spent two years as an assistant coach at Fort Hays University prior to joining TFC Academy. He holds a U.S. Soccer "D" License and is working towards his UEFA “C” License.
On the pitch, Melia has experience playing collegiately at Appalachian State University and in USL League Two, where he was coached by former Tormenta FC League One Head Coach John Miglarese.
Tormenta FC plays at home this Saturday, June 19, as it takes on regional rival and fellow USL W-League founding member Greenville Triumph SC at Erk Russell Park. The club has partnered with the Bulloch County NAACP to host a Juneteenth Night with a portion of the proceeds going to the local non-profit. Fans wanting to attend tomorrow’s match should purchase their tickets, including season tickets, half-season plans or quarter-season plans, in advance.
