STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 had an eventful night on Tuesday with two weather delays and the final stretch of the match kicking off at 12:38 p.m. ET. Despite numerous chances and shots from both sides, the match ended with a final score of 0-0.
Last night was the second matchup between Tormenta FC 2 and East Atlanta FC, making the game tense for both teams as they battled for a win. In the first half, Tormenta FC 2 took no time pressuring East Atlanta and shutting down its offensive efforts. Forward Michael Lawrence had a productive half, starting off strong with several shots on target and near attempts.
In the 12th minute, Lawrence earned a penalty kick which Michael Hornsby attempted to convert, but the shot went to the keeper. The Tormenta FC 2 offense was hungry for a goal and continued to work the left wing for a game-winning goal.
Alexis Ledoux was another offensive threat with his technicality and athleticism, dancing across the field and working through the East Atlanta defenders. New signee, forward Jacob Evans, also recorded several attempts and broke down Atlanta’s backline.
Before the first half could end, both teams evacuated the field due to lightning, which delayed the game almost an hour. Once the teams returned to the pitch, the match got chippy as they finished out what was left of the first half but neither team was able to get a goal.
Coming into the second half of the game, neither side wasted time getting back into the action. Attacking talents Gabriel Rodriguez and Gabriel Cabral both entered the match in the second half. Rodriguez and Cabral brought energy to the match and created scoring chances but overall were unable to put TFC 2 on the board.
Tormenta FC 2’s next matchup is Friday, June 18, at 8 p.m. ET back at Erk Russell Park. Taking on rivals SC United Bantams, Tormenta FC 2 looks to emerge with a win and remain undefeated at home. Fans who purchase a ticket for the USL League One match on Saturday versus Greenville Triumph SC will receive a free ticket to the TFC 2 match on Friday.

Tormenta FC 2's Man of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Moroccan defender Mo Samiki who helped secure a clean sheet for the team while also keeping the club's undefeated record at home. Samiki did an excellent job combining with attackers down the right wing and cut out numerous attacking opportunities for East Atlanta.
