STATESBORO, Ga. – Following back-to-back losses versus a tough Toronto FC II side, Tormenta FC kicks off the month of July at home against North Carolina FC. Tormenta will not overlook North Carolina FC who currently sit at the bottom of the USL League One table and hopes to secure three important points headed into the second half of the season.
Tormenta comes into Saturday’s match following a tough 2-1 loss versus Toronto FC II at home where it felt like chances just would not fall for the home team. “For our part our finishing has been frustrating, especially with 9 shots on target to their 4 we should have got a result,” TFC Head Coach Ian Cameron said.
Tormenta’s lone goal in the match came from Rodney Michael, who started the season with Tormenta FC 2. Coach Cameron has had high praise for Rodney Michael, “the boy is a good player. He was knocking on the door of a goal off the bench in his first two outings and scored on his starting debut. We have been a team short of goals this year, not short of chances though. And in Rodney, we trust we have a player who enjoys being in front of goal and finishing off plays. We're glad to have him and hope to develop his game further still as he gets used to our system and USL1 play.”

North Carolina FC heads to Statesboro after winning their first match in eight tries this season. The squad from Raleigh is headlined by Louisville City loanee, Jay Tee Kamara. The talented Sierra Leonean midfielder has his name towards the top of the list for the squad in goals, assists, and chances created. Kamara will look to get his squad on the scoreboard early, as NCFC has scored in the first fifteen minutes in three of their last five matches.
Tormenta will look to secure all three points in Saturday night’s match to keep themselves right in the heart of the League One playoff race. Tormenta will spend the majority of the month on the road and playing tough opponents. Excluding Saturday’s match, Tormenta will face two teams currently in playoff position and two teams only four points out of a playoff position. Picking up as many points as possible is a necessity at this point of the season.
Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC will be off for eleven days before traveling to Chattanooga to face off with the Red Wolves on July 14th. Saturday night at Erk Russell Park will be Community Heroes Night as Tormenta FC looks to honor first responders with free admittance.
