STATESBORO, Ga. – After clinching the 2021 USL League Two playoffs on Friday, South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 travels to Marietta, Georgia, to battle Southern Soccer Academy Kings for its penultimate match of the regular season.
The two sides first met on May 11 at Erk Russell Park when Tormenta 2 bested the SSA Kings 3-1 for the Marietta squad’s inaugural USL League Two match. The Kings got on the board first in the 10th minute, but TFC 2 responded less than two minutes later with a header by Daniel Strachan, followed by a second-half brace by Rodney Michael.
With a 3-9-0 record, the SSA Kings come into Tuesday’s match after a 2-0 loss versus Peachtree City MOBA. Southern Soccer has scored ten goals this season compared to Tormenta FC 2’s 26 total goals. Michael Chapelear leads SSA with three goals and is their only player to score more than one goal.
After Tuesday’s matchup, Tormenta FC 2 has just one match before making their 2021 USL League Two Playoff run, facing the Dalton Red Wolves on Friday, July 9. After a year without play in 2020, the team eagerly awaits its fight for the trophy once again. This will be the team’s third playoff run after claiming the Deep South Division in both 2018 and 2019 and being crowned Southern Conference champions in 2019.
