STATESBORO, Ga. – The USL League Two Southern Conference title comes down to South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 and North Carolina Fusion U23 this Friday, July 23 as the two sides battle at Erk Russell Park, kicking off at 8 p.m. ET.
For the Eastern Conference Final, West Chester United will take on the Western Mass Pioneers on Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET, and the winners of the two matches will face off Sunday, July 25, at 8:00 p.m. ET in the USL League Two Semifinal.
Founded in 1993, the North Carolina Fusion – formerly known as the Carolina Dynamo – have a long history in USL League Two with nine playoff appearances, reaching the League Two Semifinal in 2004 and most recently, the Southern Conference Semifinals in 2016.
At the Southern Conference semifinals last weekend, NC Fusion defeated Tampa Bay United 5-0 on Saturday, July 17 before taking down SC United Bantams 2-1 in 120 minutes of overtime. The Fusion went 11-2-1 in the South Atlantic division regular season.
Forward Henrique Santos and midfielder Mason Duval lead NC Fusion with nine and eight goals each, collectively scoring almost half of the squad’s goals.
