STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC and Richmond Kickers played an exciting match tonight, ending in a 2-2 draw at Erk Russell Park.
Notably, the Italian Marco Micaletto broke a club record for fastest goal in USL League One play, scoring at one minute and 49 seconds. The record was previously held by current Tampa Bay Rowdies defender Conner Antley, who scored an early goal versus North Texas SC at three minutes and one second in 2019.
Tormenta FC’s Azaad Liadi did well to create pressure throughout the match and recorded his first chance just 45 seconds in. Liadi earned a penalty kick after a high press inside Richmond’s box, where Micaletto converted from the spot to put Tormenta FC on the board.
After the halftime break, Tormenta FC doubled its score with a goal by Kobe Perez in the 62nd minute. Less than two minutes after subbing on, Perez took advantage of Micaletto’s smart pass across the box and notched his second goal of the 2021 season.
Richmond kept up the pace tonight and responded well to Tormenta’s two-goal lead, scoring two second-half goals to even up the score 2-2. In the 64th minute, Richmond’s attacking star Emiliano Terzaghi scored off a cross into Tormenta’s box, bringing the score to 2-1. Then in the 88th minute, Oalex Anderson scored the equalizer goal off of a corner kick opportunity, just minutes after subbing into the match.
