STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC hits the road for a Southern clash with Greenville Triumph SC on Saturday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. ET. On loan from San Diego Loyal in the USL Championship, forward Niki Jackson is available for selection and will give Tormenta FC another attacking option at Legacy Early College.
Tormenta FC is 2-1-0 (W-L-D) against Greenville in 2021 as the two sides enter their last regular season meeting. Tormenta FC searches for a second win at Legacy Early College, and Greenville hasn’t won a match since July 4 in a 3-0 road win versus New England Revolution.
The last matchup between the two sides resulted in a 3-2 win for Tormenta FC on Greenville's home turf. After starting out the match down 2-0, Tormenta FC scored three goals in 18 minutes to come back for the club’s first win at Legacy Early College in three seasons.
The Triumph have tallied three red cards this season, and starting center back Brandon Fricke will be out on Saturday after receiving a double yellow versus Toronto FC II on July 30. Notably, Greenville has scored all but one of their goals inside the box, so Tormenta FC’s back line will need to be vigilant in preventing any opportunities inside the box. Tormenta FC has scored six goals outside of the box and looks to continue this trend after having success on set pieces against Greenville this season.
Tormenta FC closes out its two-match road stretch at Forward Madison FC before heading home to host New England on Saturday, Aug. 21, for the Back to School Bash. The club will then close out the month with Community Appreciation Night on Saturday, Aug. 28, featuring the Dancing with the Statesboro Stars and benefitting Safe Haven, a local organization supporting those affected by domestic violence.
