STATESBORO, Ga. – After a strong showing against Greenville Triumph SC, South Georgia Tormenta FC talents Azaad Liadi, Luca Mayr-Fälten and Stefan Mueller have been named to USL League One's Cleer Audio Team of the Week for Week 18 of the regular season.
Normally a scorer himself, Liadi turned creator to help Tormenta past Greenville. He assisted Mueller for the team’s second goal as one of three chances he created in total, won a game-high 12 duels, and drew four fouls. Mayr-Fälten scored Tormenta’s opener in its invaluable 3-1 win over Greenville Triumph SC, his fifth goal contribution in four games against that opponent this season. He also completed a game-high four dribbles and won eight of 13 duels. Mueller scored Tormenta’s second goal in its road victory against Greenville, won 5 of 6 duels and made two tackles.
Mayr-Fälten joins Marco Micaletto as TFC players that have earned Team of the Week honors three times in 2021, while Liadi joins Kobe Perez and Curtis Thorn as players to have earned Team of the Week honors twice. Mueller joins defender Lars Eckenrode, goalkeeper Pablo Jara and midfielder Adrian Billhardt to have earned Team of the Week honors once in the 2021 League One regular season.
The club closes out its two-match road stretch at Forward Madison FC before heading home to host New England on Saturday, Aug. 21, for the Back to School Bash. The club will then close out the month with Community Appreciation Night on Saturday, Aug. 28, featuring the Dancing with the Statesboro Stars and benefiting Safe Haven, a local organization supporting those affected by domestic violence.
