STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC travels to Breese Stevens Field to face Forward Madison FC on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 8 p.m. ET for the final of two meetings between the two avian sides in 2021. After a dominant 3-1 win against USL League One champion Greenville Triumph SC last weekend, the club looks to use that momentum to bring home all three points.
On May 29, Forward Madison defeated Tormenta FC 3-1 at Erk Russell Park and now, the Statesboro squad looks to return the favor this Saturday. In the last matchup, Tormenta FC recorded a 10% crossing accuracy, which caused issues creating chances inside the box. Since then, Tormenta FC has improved its crossing accuracy, most recently recording 20% against Greenville which will help create more scoring opportunities on Saturday.
Fans should keep an eye on forward Azaad Liadi, who has recorded five assists and is searching for his second goal of the 2021 season. Niki Jackson is another player to watch who recently joined Tormenta FC from the San Diego Loyal and was a game-changer against Greenville, almost scoring a goal.
Madison has ended each of its last three games in a 1-1 draw and hasn’t won a match since June 30. Former Greenville forward Jake Keegan leads the Madison squad in goals with six and is tied for third in USL League One for shots with 34.
Tormenta FC returns home to host New England Revolution II on Saturday, Aug. 21, for the Back to School Bash. The club will then close out the month with Community Appreciation Night on Saturday, Aug. 28, featuring the Dancing with the Statesboro Stars and benefitting Safe Haven, a local organization supporting those affected by domestic violence.
