STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced its initial roster decisions ahead of the 2022 USL League One season, its fourth in the professional league.
Goalkeeper Pablo Jara, defender Stefan Mueller, midfielder Marco Micaletto and forward Rodney Michael are all under contract for the 2022 season. Meanwhile, Tormenta FC has exercised the 2022 club options for defender Curtis Thorn and midfielder Adrian Billhardt, pending league and federation approval.
The six returning players were crucial to Tormenta FC’s 2021 season. Micaletto played in 28 games and was the team’s top scorer with 11 goals. The Italian veteran earned five appearances on USL League One Team of the Week and was also named to the 2021 All-League First Team. Alongside Micaletto, Thorn appeared twice on the USL League One Team of the Week, and Mueller and Jara made one appearance.
The returning core group played the majority of last season’s fixtures with an average of 1,533 minutes. Jara recorded a total of 76 saves, ranking third for most saves in League One, while Thorn finished the season with the league’s ninth-best passing accuracy. Billhardt’s rookie season was cut short due to an ACL injury, but the German talent recorded one assist and six shots in four appearances.

Tormenta FC has declined the 2022 contract options for Clayton Adams, Nick O’Callaghan, Sergi Nus, Kobe Perez, Luis Rodriguez and Kristofer Strickler. Carlos Avilez, Vincenzo Candela, Lars Eckenrode, Ricardo Gomez, Luca Mayr-Fälten, Azaad Liadi, Abuchi Obinwa, Joshua Phelps and Raheem Somersall, are out of contract.
Forward Niki Jackson has finished his loan term with Tormenta FC and has returned to San Diego Loyal.
