"We're motivated to participate in another iteration of the USL Academy league,” League One Head Coach Ian Cameron commented. “The professionalism of the events is key, thus providing our players and coaches a great environment to compete and develop. The training camp model that Jordan and Nick Jaramillo created last year was fun to watch. They were creative and progressive in their approach and provided a blueprint of how we wanted that team to operate.
“Jordan will now lead that group, and he'll do a brilliant job. We're lucky to have him, and the players will benefit greatly from his attention to detail and passion for their success."
Currently in his fourth year coaching full time, Melia spent two years as an assistant coach at Fort Hays University prior to joining TFC Academy. He holds a U.S. Soccer "D" License and is working towards his UEFA “C” License.
On the pitch, Melia has experience playing collegiately at Appalachian State University and in USL League Two, where he was coached by former Tormenta FC League One Head Coach John Miglarese.
Committed to raising the level of soccer locally and across the country, Tormenta FC Academy has programs available from age two all the way up to age 19 and is the only youth academy in South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina with a path to the professional ranks. Over the years, TFC Academy has helped many talented players on their paths to higher levels of the game, whether it be Indiana Vassilev in the English Premier League with Aston Villa FC, Paolo Alcocer in the Bolivian Primera División with Club Bolívar or James Brighton, a rising talent in the collegiate ranks at Clemson University. In 2019, midfielder Tristan DeLoach became the first TFC Academy talent to sign a professional academy contract with the professional USL League One team, followed by his peers, midfielder Grant Hampton and goalkeeper Stephen O’Hearn in 2020 and Brittain Gottlieb and Tyler Bisseck in 2021.
