STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced defender Ian Antley to its 2022 USL League One roster on a one-year contract with an option, pending league and federation approval. The Atlanta native joins Tormenta FC after two seasons with the Richmond Kickers where he played 789 minutes and assisted three times for the Roos.
Ian Antley joins his brother Connor Antley in representing the Navy and Magenta. Connor played for Tormenta FC’s USL League One and Two teams in 2018 and 2019, ultimately winning USL League One Defender of the Year.
“I would like to thank Darin and Netra Van Tassell, as well as Ian Cameron for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to represent Tormenta FC,” Antley said. “Georgia is my home, and I look forward to being back in the peach state doing what I love. I was brought in to help this club win games and compete for a championship and that’s what I intend to do.”
Prior to Richmond, Antley gained USL League Two experience with Seattle Sounders U23 in 2017 and the Birmingham Hammers in 2018. The Georgia native attended Mercer University where he played under Ian Cameron, an assistant coach for the Bears at the time. Antley made 56 appearances in four seasons and helped his team to a 2016 Southern Conference Championship, recording three goals and eight assists.
“Having had the privilege of working with Ian before, I understand his make-up and what gets the most out of him,” Cameron commented. “The boy thrives off competition. He doesn’t shirk from any challenge put in front of him. While we’re excited for our fans to see Ian represent us on the field, we’re equally excited to welcome him and his wife Anna to our community.”
Antley joins a growing roster of seven returners ready for a championship run, with the added power of defender Jake Dengler and former TFC 2 captain Gabriel Cabral. With player signings, kit reveals and more expected in the coming weeks, fans should download the Tormenta FC app or follow the club on social media to stay up to date.
Tormenta FC looks forward to welcoming supporters to its new 5,300-seat stadium set to open its doors in 2022. Supporters can now purchase season tickets in advance to guarantee their spot at every home match, available with 12-month payment plans. For families and new fans, the club also offers Flex Ticket packages which include ten General Admission or VIP tickets redeemable at any regular-season home match.
