STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 adds goalkeeper Holden Trent to its 2022 USL League Two roster, pending league and federation approval. A starter for High Point University the past two seasons, Trent hopes to transition his good form to Tormenta FC 2 this summer under Head Coach Tom Morris who aspires for a fourth USL League Two title run.
“Holden is a goalkeeper that our club has been tracking for some time now, and is coming off the back of another stellar year as a starter and leader at High Point University,” Head Coach Tom Morris commented. “Holden has a great presence on the field and reads the game very well which allows him to resolve any potential problems very quickly. We believe Holden has the potential to play professionally beyond college, and we are excited to get him in and around our pro-environment to continue his development on that pathway.”
The 6-foot-2 goalkeeper spent the 2021 USL League Two season with the Des Moines Menace who were crowned league champions after defeating North Carolina Fusion FC U23 in the final.
Trent also played an important role in helping the Panthers win its first Big South Championship in 2020, advancing to the first round of the NCAA Tournament where they faced 2019 NCAA Men’s Soccer Champions Georgetown University.
2021 was a learning year for Trent and the High Point Panthers as they looked to win a consecutive Big South Conference, however, their run ended in the final. Trent continued to stack up minutes (1543) and recorded nine shutout games for the Panthers.
“I am really excited about joining Tormenta FC 2 this summer,” Trent said. “I believe it is going to be a top environment with players who all have ambitions of playing professionally.”
Supporters should download the Tormenta FC app or follow the club on social media to stay up-to-date on additional USL League One, League Two and W League player announcements in the coming weeks.
