STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC announced today the addition of South African forward Arthur Bosua, pending league and federation approval. The former Charleston Battery goal-scorer earned his spot on the 2022 USL League One roster at Tormenta FC’s 2022 open trial where he impressed the coaching staff.
Bosua brings two seasons of USL Championship experience after appearing for the Battery in over 40 games and scoring eight goals.
“We looked to identify a forward with a bigger physical presence this offseason, and we settled upon Arthur,” Cameron said after the Feb. 5 open trial. “He thrives off crosses, he can link play really well with our tens underneath, and he has the ability to pick a pass.”
Bosua is a 2017 graduate of Columbia University in the City of New York where he tallied a total of 27 goals and 12 assists in 63 appearances. During his time with the Lions, Bosua was a two-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and three-time All-Ivy League First Team selection.
“What impressed us the most is his mobility against the ball and that was the defining factor in making this the target guy we put pen to paper with,” Cameron said. “His personality vibes well with the staff, and we trust there are aspects of his game that we can improve. With the right development, we expect to relaunch Arthur to the Championship but hope he leaves us having helped secure some silverware first!”
In 2018 and 2019, the forward gained USL League Two experience with the Long Island Rough Riders, scoring 6 times in 13 games.
The 26-year-old comes to Tormenta FC after a stellar 2021 season with New Amsterdam FC where he scored 4 goals and assisted twice in 1,009 minutes. Bosua finished as the third-highest goal-scorer for the New York City club.
“I’m excited to join Tormenta FC,” Bosua commented about his South Georgia signing. “It’s a wonderful organization with a great group of players and staff. I can’t wait to get started and contribute however I can!”
Bosua joins a growing 2022 squad and the most recent signings of League One champion Tobias Otieno and League Two’s top 2022 prospect, Kingsford Adjei. Additional player signings, kit reveals are coming soon, so supporters should download the Tormenta FC app or follow the club on social media to stay up to date.
