STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the signing of goalkeeper Jamie Boegel to its 2022 USL League One roster on a one-year deal, pending league and federation approval.
“Jamie arrives with a strong work ethic and a mentality to push from the 3 spot and challenge the goalkeeper group ahead of him,” Head Coach Ian Cameron commented. “That’s what we need here, everyone pushing in a respectful but determined manner. We’re excited to see him develop within our club.”
The former Wingate University keeper helped the men’s soccer program win their second consecutive South Atlantic Championship in 2021. The winning season saw Boegel record six clean sheets to lead the Bulldogs to an overall 8-1 record.
Boegel comes to Tormenta FC already accustomed to the USL atmosphere as he competed for the Charlotte Eagles during their 2021 USL League Two season. The keeper appeared in net five times for the League Two side, totaling 450 minutes.
Boegel joins a growing roster of returners ready for a championship run, with the added power of recent signings Kazaiah Sterling, Arthur Bosua and Tobias Otieno. Additional player announcements, kit reveals and more are expected in the near future, so fans should download the Tormenta FC app or follow the club on social media to stay up to date.
Tormenta FC looks forward to welcoming supporters to its new 5,300-seat stadium set to open its doors in 2022. Supporters can now purchase season tickets in advance to guarantee their spot at every home match, available with 12-month payment plans. For families and new fans, the club also offers Flex Ticket packages which include ten General Admission or VIP tickets redeemable at any regular-season home match.
