STATESBORO, Ga. – Tormenta FC Academy 2008 players Eder Chavelas, Marcus Jean-Gilles and Osmar Martinez, as well as 2007 players Issac Bittner and Jack Mace, have been selected to attend U.S. Soccer’s Youth National Team Identification Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 24.
U.S. Soccer YNT Identification Centers are free, single-day player identification opportunities for top talents to train and play games under the direction of U.S. Soccer Talent Identification Managers. IDC’s are a critical element to U.S. Soccer’s Talent Identification Plan and are designed to identify and evaluate top talents for Youth National Teams, while accelerating their development in a challenging environment. IDC’s are scheduled throughout the year in key markets across the country.
“It is with great pride for Tormenta FC to receive invitations for our academy players to participate in the US Soccer youth national team identification center,” Tormenta FC Academy Vice President Brad Nein commented. “The work each player has put in to become some of the best players in the southeast have been amazing to observe. A special thanks to our MLS NEXT coaching staff for giving these players the knowledge to consistently be at their best.”
U.S. Soccer’s objective is to create an environment where players take responsibility for their own development. IDCs are the pathway to the Youth National Teams.
“We are beyond excited for our players that have been selected for this very prestigious opportunity,” Tormenta FC Academy Director of Coaching Stefan King commented. “Playing soccer at Tormenta FC comes with many advantages, and due to these players’ efforts in the MLS NEXT season, they have turned some heads while representing our organization. We are extremely proud of them and wish the best at the USYNT Identification Center next week.”
