STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the signing of midfielder Josue Soto to its 2022 USL League One roster on a one-year deal, pending league and federation approval.
Soto brings over ten years of professional experience and comes to Tormenta FC after a stint with the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in 2021, when he made four appearances. Before RGV, Soto spent two seasons with USL League One’s Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, making 41 appearances, tallying one goal and five assists during the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
“We need four true central midfielders in our squad, and there’s a baseline of work ethic and focus they all must possess,” TFC Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “But we also want a bit of diversity in that group, from expertise to experience.
“Soto brings a nice balance to the unit having played at all levels in the American soccer pyramid and can help our two high-potential rookies there. He also possesses excellent building and decision-making capabilities, which will be vitally important in phases of games and against certain opponents. We’re happy to add him and now start the process of educating him on our style of play.”

In 2011, the Fort Worth native signed his first professional contract and became the Houston Dynamo’s third homegrown player. Soto made his professional debut with the first team in a 2-0 Dynamo Charities Cup defeat against the Bolton Wanderers. Soto also saw minutes in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and Concacaf Champions League while with the Dynamo.
The Texan native then made his Major League Soccer debut with Chivas USA in 2013 in a 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy and appeared 18 times for the team.
The former United States Youth International also brings European experience to a young Tormenta FC side, spending several years abroad in Finland with second-division teams AC Oulu and FF Jaro from 2016 to 2018.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Tormenta FC this season. I am locked in and will help the team in any way to obtain a title run.”
