STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC proudly presents ten theme nights for its 2022 USL League One season, creating engaging experiences for its supporters and appreciating different communities throughout South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
This year, Tormenta FC has committed to tackling three social justice initiatives: 1. food insecurity 2. diversity, equity, and inclusion 3. women in sports. The club understands the commitment to these three causes and aims to foster yearlong partnerships with multiple local organizations and businesses throughout the season.
The club has also created theme nights that engage with supporters and the surrounding community in fun and unique ways, like Paws & Claws Night, Summer Fun Night, and Hunting and Conservation Night.
MAY 7: MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
Tormenta FC will host Military Appreciation Night on May 7 against Charlotte Independence SC. Thanks to Bulloch Solutions, all active or retired military members will be given FREE General Admission with proof of valid military identification. Fans in attendance can take photos inside the stadium in a designated area, featuring a beautiful Boro Balloons arrangement.
Statesboro High School will be presenting the National Anthem before kickoff, while the Georgia Southern University ROTC Color Guard will be presenting U.S. flag on field.
During halftime, the Army Recruiting Office will conduct a swearing-in ceremony for future soliders on the field.
Finally, Tormenta FC has teamed up with Nine Line Apparel for Military Appreciation Night, and fans can purchase a one-of-a-kind collaboration shirt from the Tormenta FC merchandise table or explore the numerous merchandise items from Nine Line Apparel inside the stadium.
MAY 21: SUMMER FUN NIGHT
As Central Valley Fuego brings California heat to the Boro, Tormenta FC will host Summer Fun Night on May 28 for some beach fun and awareness surrounding climate change and sustainability. The first 500 fans through the stadium gates will receive a pair of FREE sunglasses, courtesy of Vision Source Statesboro. Fans should stay tuned for additional match-day promotions and activities to be announced closer to the match.
JUNE 19: JUNETEENTH NIGHT
On June 19, Tormenta FC will proudly host its second annual Juneteenth Night in partnership with local Black organizations with more activities and promotions to be announced closer to the date.
Juneteenth is an American holiday often referred to as a ‘second Independence Day’ that celebrates the legal end of slavery in the United States and brings light to the fact that despite the Emancipation Proclamation, slavery did not fully end until months or years later in some states.
JULY 9: COMMUNITY HEROES NIGHT
Tormenta FC hosts Community Heroes Night on July 9 vs. the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC to honor local heroes in the community. Thanks to Bulloch Solutions, Tormenta FC will donate 100 General Admission tickets to a local non-profit organization. The club will honor different local heroes at halftime, and players will engage in firefighter training and more leading up to the match.
JULY 23: HEALTH AND WELLNESS NIGHT
Tormenta FC’s July 23 home game against North Carolina FC will bring awareness to Health and Wellness. The club will stress the importance of not only taking care of one’s physical health but one’s mental well-being as well. Thanks to Bulloch Solutions, Tormenta FC will donate 100 General Admission tickets to a local non-profit organization.
AUGUST 13: HUNTING & CONSERVATION NIGHT
Tormenta FC hosts Charlotte Independence on August 13 for Hunting & Conservation Night. The night will engage with the South Georgia community and raise awareness on efficient ways to hunt. Thanks to Lee, Hill & Johnston, Tormenta FC will donate 100 General Admission tickets to a local non-profit organization. New merchandise will be available for purchase with more details to be announced.
SEPTEMBER 10: PAWS & CLAWS NIGHT
Pets, White Claws, and soccer at Tormenta Stadium! Sept. 10 will be one of the most exciting nights of the season with pets allowed at Tormenta Stadium as Tormenta FC plays Northern Colorado Hailstorm. The club will also offer a special deal on White Claws that night. Other initiatives like merch for your furry fans will be announced as the date approaches.
SEPTEMBER 17: LATINO/A HERITAGE NIGHT
Happy Independence Day! We take pride in our aficion (fans). Throughout the year, the club commits to creating a meaningful relationship with the local Latino/a community, culminating those year-long efforts in a celebration on Sept. 17.
OCTOBER 1: HISTORIC OPENING AT TORMENTA STADIUM
Tormenta FC will host its first match at Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium against the Richmond Kickers on Oct. 1. The first match at the new venue is expected to be a sellout, so fans should purchase tickets in advance.
