STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Deshawon Nembhard was named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week Six after helping the backline achieve its sixth consecutive clean sheet in league and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play. Nembhard appears in the USL League One Team of the Week for the second consecutive week.
South Georgia obtained a valuable point at home against the Charlotte Independence and was able to shut down one of the best offenses in the league. The Belizean international continued his in-form streak on Saturday night, winning every tackle, ground duel and aerial duel initiated and tacking on the highest passing score of the weekend.
Tormenta FC continues its historic run in the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, May 10, at 8 p.m. ET, heading to Fort Lauderdale to take on Major League Soccer-side Inter Miami CF. The winner of the matchup will enter the round of 16 of the national tournament.
Following Tuesday’s game, South Georgia will travel to Cary, North Carolina, to take on North Carolina FC this Saturday, May 14, at 5 p.m. ET.
