STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 has announced the return of midfielders Tristan Deloach and Grant Hampton and goalkeeper Stephen O’Hearn to its 2022 USL League Two roster, pending league and federation approval. The three Tormenta FC Academy products return to South Georgia from their respective collegiate programs to continue their path to the professional ranks.
In May 2019, Tristan Deloach made history as Tormenta FC’s first-ever youth player to sign an Academy Pro contract. Shortly after, the rising midfielder made his professional debut on July 24, against Orlando City B, coming on in the 82nd minute for Charlie Dennis. Deloach went on to make three more professional appearances for the club during the 2020 USL League One season.
“I’m so thankful that Tormenta is giving us this opportunity. I’m really looking forward to seeing us individually, collectively, and personally grow as a team this year.”
Tristan Deloach, Tormenta FC 2 Midfielder
DeLoach joins Tormenta FC 2 after his first season with the Clemson University men’s soccer program.
Midfielder Grant Hampton returns to TFC 2 from Mercer University’s men’s soccer program.
“I joined Tormenta FC because it’s my boyhood club, so it means a lot to come back and play. I hope we win the USL League Two championship this year. We have gone deep into the playoffs twice since I joined the club, and I think it’s time to win one.”
Grant Hampton, Tormenta FC 2 Midfielder
Hampton, 19, has been a member of previous Tormenta FC 2 teams and made his debut for TFC 2 at age 16, appearing in four matches and helping the team win Deep South Division and Southern Conference titles.
A Savannah native, Hampton attended Islands High School and spent ten years playing and developing his skills with the Tormenta FC Academy. Hampton is a part of the Mercer University Men’s soccer program. The Savannah native made his collegiate debut in a win against Georgia Southern.
Goalkeeper Stephen O’Hearn continues on his path to pro after kicking off his career with Tormenta FC Academy and signing an Academy Pro Contract with the club in 2020.
“I’m honored to return to Statesboro to compete with our USL League Two team. I’m excited to see all the fans out there this summer and hopefully we can bring a championship home. Vamos Tormenta!”
Stephen O’Hearn, Tormenta FC 2 Goalkeeper
O’Hearn was part of the 2021 USL League Two roster that made a historic playoff run and returns to South Georgia to compete for the starting goalkeeper position this summer. Stephen completes the O’Hearn trifecta at Tormenta FC this summer as he joins sisters Lauren and Erin O’Hearn who will lead Tormenta FC’s inaugural W League team in the midfield with experience from Furman University.
O’Hearn is a member of Georgia State University’s men’s soccer program. A native of Savannah, the local talent attended Savannah Arts Academy as a goalkeeper under the team’s Head Coach Jhordane Williams. The goalkeeper developed within Tormenta FC Academy for ten years and has exceptional technical ability. O’Hearn’s footwork and confidence on the ball give his teammates the ability to use him as an option during the flow of the game.
South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
Tormenta FC is excited for a historic 2022 as it transitions from Erk Russell Park to Tormenta Stadium. Supporters can purchase single-game tickets and Flex Ticket packages in advance to guarantee their presence at every home match across the club’s USL League One League Two and W League teams.
