STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC enters its third and final game of the week as the team travels to Cary, North Carolina, to take on North Carolina FC this Saturday, May 14, at WakeMed Soccer Park. Tormenta FC seeks its first win against NCFC after a standout performance in Fort Lauderdale in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32.
A busy week saw South Georgia clash against one of the best offenses in the league, the Charlotte Independence in a 0-0 draw last Saturday. Tormenta FC then traveled to Fort Lauderdale and took on Major League Soccer-side Inter Miami CF on Tuesday, giving the MLS-side a run for their money. South Georgia knows Saturday’s game is winnable.
Tormenta FC has earned positive results in early visits to USL League One rivals. In league play, South Georgia has obtained six of six points in away games after beating FC Tucson and Greenville Triumph SC.
Last Saturday, NCFC obtained its second win of the season in Tucson after handing FC Tucson its second consecutive loss in a 1-2 win away from home. NCFC came back from a 0-1 deficit to hand FC Tucson yet another loss. Currently ranked sixth in League One standings, NCFC has a -1 goal deficit and currently holds Tormenta FC winless in all fixtures played against the Statesboro side.
