STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 returns to action this Thursday, June 2, at Erk Russell Park, welcoming Peachtree City MOBA following Monday’s defeat against One Knoxville SC. The game will conclude Tormenta FC 2’s four-game homestand in which the team has gone 1-1-2 (W-L-D) thus far in regular-season play. Thursday’s match will be part of the first-ever Tormenta FC doubleheader which features Tormenta FC’s USL W League and USL League Two teams competing against Peachtree City MOBA.
On Monday, JC Ngando, who was ranked 8th in USL League Two’s top prospects for 2022, scored his second goal of the season against Knoxville to give TFC 2 its first lead of the night. Tiago Lopes then scored in the 73rd minute to break the tie and bring the score to a winning 2-1. South Georgia currently sits sixth in the League Two South Central Division with five points.
Peachtree City MOBA comes into Thursday’s fixture following a 2-1 win against the SC United Bantams last Saturday. Peachtree City currently sits in 8th place with three points following a win and two defeats to start the USL League Two season.
South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
