STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL League One team takes on the Richmond Kickers at City Stadium on Saturday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. ET. Heading into a two-match road stretch, Tormenta FC looks to continue the success it has seen in away games this season.
Tormenta FC enters the match after two disappointing home results versus Central Valley Fuego FC and FC Tucson and hopes to turn things around on Saturday by winning three points to take back to Statesboro. South Georgia has yet to score a goal at home but has won three out of its three away matches thus far this season. With only three points separating the top seven teams in the League One standings, a win versus Richmond would put Tormenta FC back in a playoff position.
Goalkeeper Pablo Jara and his backline lead the league in clean sheets with four and will look to continue that trend on Saturday. On the offensive side, Tormenta FC has been incredibly productive in creating opportunities and making shots but is struggling to convert its chances, especially at home. With these things in mind, defense and conversion will make the difference on Saturday.
Tomorrow’s match against the Richmond Kickers will be a test for Tormenta FC, who has never won a match at City Stadium and looks to turn that around. Additionally, the Kickers are tied for first in the league for yellow cards with 30, compared to Tormenta FC’s 17, so the match is sure to be a physical one.
Sitting in fourth place in the standings with 11 points, the Kickers come off of a dominant 3-0 win on Wednesday against the Chattanooga Red Wolves. Although Richmond will hope to use that momentum for another win, their three-day rest period may leave the team with tired legs on Saturday.
Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC will travel to face the Northern Colorado Hailstorm on Saturday, June 11, at 9 p.m. ET for the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
