MARIETTA, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 continues to apply pressure to the top of the table after a win at Southern Soccer Academy. Goals from Dominik Kurija and Jalen James were sufficient to get Tormenta FC 2’s third consecutive win on the road.
Kurija’s ability to track back and overload the left side gave SSA major issues. In the 14th minute, Kurija opened the scoring after several rebounds near the penalty box, a Kurija volley beat the goalkeeper for the first time tonight.
In the 37th minute, Jalen James found a beautiful through ball and was able to find a simple finish, beating a poorly positioned SSA Goalkeeper.
A more balanced second half had both teams create minimal opportunities however, SSA was able to get a goal back through a corner kick in the 81st minute.
Tonight’s Player of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Jalen James. James scored the match’s second goal, which signified the three points. James displayed what they wanted offensively in the first and helped close them out in the second.
South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
