STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC is at home for its second consecutive home game taking on the reigning USL League One champions Union Omaha SC this Saturday, June 25, at Erk Russell Park, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Tormenta FC will look for its first win at home in Pablo Jara’s 100th game across all competitions with Tormenta FC. Four points separate South Georgia from league leaders Richmond Kickers. A win at home would have South Georgia fighting for a top position 11 games into the season.
South Georgia’s memorable performance last Sunday against Forward Madison has Tormenta FC ready to go all-in against the reigning League One winners. Tormenta FC looks to give Omaha its third consecutive defeat in seven days. Following their third consecutive draw, Tormenta FC has a massive opportunity to get its first win of the season at home this Saturday.
While South Georgia scored at home for the first time in league play last Saturday, Tormenta FC has been unable to win at home in 2022. Having played six home fixtures, South Georgia has drawn three and lost three.
The reigning League One champions historic Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup came to an end on Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City of MLS. Although a defeat in Kansas City saw them bow out of the cup, Omaha was the last USL League One team to be eliminated. Omaha could not get any points last Saturday after being defeated 0-2 by Greenville Triumph at home. Omaha currently remains undefeated against the Statesboro side.
Tormenta FC is excited for a historic 2022 as it transitions from Erk Russell Park to Tormenta Stadium. Single-match tickets are live for advance purchase ahead of Saturday’s match. Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC will travel to Fresno, California, to take on Central Valley Fuego FC next Saturday, July 2, at Fresno State Soccer Stadium, at 10:30 p.m. ET.
