JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 fought hard tonight against the Tri-Cities Otters but ultimately fell 0-1. Tormenta FC 2 went down two minutes into the second half and could not recover after tonight’s lone goal.
Tormenta FC 2 grew increasingly threatening throughout the first half, searching for the perfect opportunity. In the 16th minute, a run from JC Ngando set up Brian Gonzalez, and the low-driven shot towards the far post went out for a corner. Tormenta FC 2 had plentiful opportunities in the first half but could not finish their opportunities.
Tri-Cities kicked the second half off with an early goal two minutes into the second half by David Panter.
Tormenta FC 2 continued its attack in the second half, vying for a chance to catch up and equalize, but no chances were seeing the back of the net.
With this result, Tormenta FC 2’s five-game winning streak ends, and their playoff aspirations are now distant. However, with only two games left, Tormenta FC 2 depends on more results to favor them in hopes of a playoff bid.
South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
