STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the four nominees for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month (USL League One) award for June, and the community will help decide the winner. Forward Kazaiah Sterling and midfielders Adrian Billhardt, Gabriel Cabral and Kingsford Adjei are all up for the award. Tormenta FC’s offensive unit were able to produce eight goals in the month of June, making it the most productive month this season.
Voting for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month (USL League One) award will run through Monday, July 11, at 11:59 p.m. ET,with voting permitted daily. The winner will be determined via a weighted vote from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote (poll below) will comprise 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots will comprise 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprise 20 percent of the poll.
Voting results will be announced on Tuesday, July 12.
Player of the Month Nominees:
Kingsford Adjei, Midfielder: Adjei’s presence through the wing continues to pose a threat to opposing defenders. Adjei leads the team in shots taken with eighteen and is tied with the most goals scored with three. A goal against Northern Colorado on the road helped South Georgia get an important point during the month.
Adrian Billhardt, Midfielder: Billhardt showed up in crucial moments for South Georgia. In June, Billhardt scored twice, an equalizer against the Richmond Kickers and South Georgia’s first goal against Union Omaha, and assisted twice.
Gabriel Cabral, Midfielder: Cabral continues consolidating himself in the Tormenta FC midfield. After winning Tormenta FC’s Player of the Month in May, Cabral continues to perform in important matches. Cabral played 432 minutes in June and led the team in chances created with 23.
Kazaiah Sterling, Forward: Despite only playing two games in June, Sterling was able to play in two crucial road matches against the Richmond Kickers and Northern Colorado Hailstorm. Sterling created opportunities for South Georgia and assisted Billhardt’s equalizer in Richmond.
