STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 returns for its final home game of the season to take on SC United Bantams following a defeat in Johnson City on Saturday. Tormenta FC 2 won on the road at SC United Bantams earlier in the season, thanks to an Alejo Binaghi goal.
Following four consecutive wins against Dalton Red Wolves, SC United Bantams, Southern Soccer Academy and East Atlanta FC, TFC 2’s winning streak came to an end last Saturday in Johnson City; however, an opportunity to show off in front of its fans gives it an important task going into Friday’s game. South Georgia currently sits third with twenty-three points in the South Central Division with twelve games played (seven wins, two draws, and three defeats).
A win on Friday would see Tormenta FC 2 share points (26) with the second place team of the division, Asheville City SC. However, Tormenta FC 2 would still be third due to its head-to-head record against Asheville City.
SC United Bantams travels to Statesboro after falling to Asheville City SC on the road 7-1. Bantams currently rank fourth in the division with sixteen points.
South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as the champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
